Peter combines his 23 years of experience and knowledge in the traffic control industry with a personal drive to make the industry safer and more efficient moving forward. Peter serves on the Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7 Review Committee and the Ontario Road Builders Association (ORBA) Occupational Health & Safety Committee. In 2012 Peter received the 2012 ORBA Distinguished Service Award. He has a strong commitment to the improvement of traffic control and safety across the industry.
Peter is also committed to our local community here in Hamilton and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce and sits on the board of directors for Neighbour 2 Neighbour, a local charitable organization supporting single parent families, offering many educational children’s’ programs and supporting Hamilton families in need of assistance of many different types.
Joe has over 20 years experience in the industry from both the traffic management side and the contractor side as well. As a result he has an ability to understand the customers’ needs better and brings a unique perspective to his work. Joe can manage projects of all sizes from the pre-bid estimating right through to job completion and all the steps in between. Joe understands the traffic control industry very well and embraces new and old methods to ensure the safest and most efficient way to get a job done. Joe has unrivaled experience and relationships in the entire construction and engineering industry. In addition to all his other duties, Joe is also our lead trainer.
Derek’s more than 10 years experience in traffic management has seen him rise quickly to his current position. He has a broad scope of experience during that time and brings a unique set of tools to his job. Derek is an excellent customer guy and continues to work on building his many relationships within the industry. He is able to relate to customers on their level and understand them well, which allows him to solve problems quickly and efficiently for them. As Operations Manager, Derek has many responsibilities at Direct Traffic Management and works with his team to ensure smooth and efficient use of resources.
Manager, Sales, Rentals & Installations
Nick has over 21 years in the industry at various levels. He has worked in the field setting up and removing traffic control, and in the office as a manager looking after the needs of some large scale clients. Nick has an excellent reputation for outstanding customer service and is diligent when looking after a client’s needs from start to finish of any project size. Nick’s in depth knowledge of the signing industry in particular is a welcome addition to our team’s dynamic and will allow us to gain more insight into our customer’s needs before they even know them.
Derek has worked in the industry for over 23 years. He began his career with Barricade Traffic Services as a labourer and had worked his way up to supervisor. He worked for 12 years with the 407 ETR in the maintenance department as a supervisor where he gained valuable experience outside of traffic control in areas such as winter maintenance, contact administration, road painting execution, and various other things to round out his knowledge of the construction industry. Derek joined the Direct team in 2016 and has added a fresh perspective on our services and continues to add value to our company.
Dale has been with Direct Traffic since 2019, but has 37 years of varied experience. His experience ranges from being a surveyor for MTO, then to working on the construction side with Dufferin Construction where he worked up from surveyor to senior superintendent (with a 1-year stint in safety) before stepping into operations management and general manager roles. As the Operations Manager for Direct Traffic, Dale oversees the allocation of resources to ensure projects are completed as per project plans, provides leadership, identifies high potential employees while developing plans to support growth and promotion as well as facilitates training new hires. Dale has many responsibilities at Direct Traffic Management and works with his team to ensure smooth and efficient use of resources from project securement through to execution. In his free time, Dale golfs and enjoys going for a ride on his motorcycle.
Traffic Control Supervisor
Mike joined Direct Traffic in 2010 and has gained all of his industry experience with us. As a Traffic Control Supervisor, Mike provides support for the crews on the road with his extensive knowledge of the industry and his problem-solving skills. When he’s not on the road with the field staff, Mike likes going camping and enjoying nature, appreciating music at a concert and working on trucks.
Assistant Operations Manager
Direct Traffic was lucky to have Albert join the team in 2012, first as a crash truck driver and eventually as our Assistant Operations Manager. His time with us has allowed him to gain several years of valuable experience which he uses along with his strong people skills and good problem-solving skills to create a team atmosphere. As an overall people person, Albert enjoys coaching (as well as watching) football, spending his free time with family and travelling.
Sign Installations Coordinator
Chris joined Direct Traffic in 2015 and ultimately became the Sign Installation Coordinator. In this position, Chris oversees our ground mount sign and guide rail installation projects. He is a big supporter of accuracy – believes in only doing an install once – and with 16 plus years of experience, he manages to accomplish this with ease. When Chris is not doing installations for Direct Traffic he enjoys snowmobiling, fishing, going to the cottage and various outdoor activities.
Steve joined PGC Services Hamilton in 2015 as he transferred over with a merger of 2 companies (Direct Traffic Management and United Road Signs). As Operations Manager, Steve is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Hamilton’s hydrovac division which includes scheduling and dispatching as well as customer development and retention. Steve’s nearly 6 years in the industry are demonstrated in his operational and organizational skills, partnered with extensive business to business sales experience. When he’s not running PGC’s operations, Steve likes cooking and entertaining with friends and family, home and cottage renovations and automotive restoration (vintage Volkswagens specifically) and travelling.
Traffic Control Supervisor
Brian has been with Direct Traffic since 2020. As a Traffic Control Supervisor, he is a conduit between management and road staff who helps and assists crews to deliver safe and efficient service. Brian’s 10 years of experience in the industry have provided him with knowledge of traffic control on freeways and non-freeways and his ability to think outside the box has been helpful to solve issues that arise. When not acting as a leader at Direct, Brian enjoys being outside fishing, hiking and spending lots of quality time in his garden in the summer months while puzzles and games keep him busy in the winter months.
Traffic Control Supervisor
Ojay joined Direct Traffic over 4 years ago and recently became a Traffic Control Supervisor. In this capacity, his primary responsibilities are to guide, support and mentor new and existing Traffic Control Technicians and Team Leads and provide feedback to the upper management. He has gained his industry experience with us over the past 4 years and brings leadership, mentorship and guidance. In his free time Ojay enjoys travelling and cooking.
